About Antoine

Since 2005, I've taught singers of different ages and in different music genres (classical and contemporary). My singing students have learnt to sing more naturally and freely and have gained confidence and control – even during their first lesson. I have significant experience in helping students to learn healthy singing technique, importantly including the unlearning of unhealthy technique (which requires special care and patience).
In addition to several years of practical teaching and performance experience, I've achieved an average result of 88% in my Grade VIII ABRSM singing examination and I have a BTech degree in applied linguistics. I speak, sing and teach (in) a variety of languages. I'm also studying towards a master's-level qualification in singing.

NOTE: For in-person lessons, my studio is in Sonstraal, Durbanville.
My teaching method is based on Italian bel canto (beautiful singing) techniques, together with a variety of contemporary methods. I focus on healthy and comfortable singing that enables singers to explore and reach their full potential. My students sing in a variety of styles.
I offer group workshops upon request, titled "Paint With Your Voice". I'm currently writing a book on this visual approach to singing as an art.
