About Ali
Hi, I’m Ali. I’m a software developer with a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, with a strong background in math and problem-solving.
I’ve worked on real-world applications, which has taught me how to break down complex problems into simple, clear steps. That’s the same approach I bring into tutoring. I’m patient, easy to talk to, and I try to create a comfortable space where students feel okay asking questions and working through mistakes.
I’ve always preferred understanding concepts over memorizing steps, and I try to pass that on to my students. Whether it’s preparing for a test, catching up in class, or building confidence, my goal is to help students feel more comfortable and in control of the subject.

My goal is to help students actually understand what they’re doing instead of just memorizing steps. I focus on breaking concepts down in a simple way and making sure everything makes sense before moving forward.
I usually start by figuring out where the student is at and what they find difficult. Then we go through concepts together, work through examples, and I guide them as they try similar questions. I make sure they understand why each step works, not just how to get the answer. Lessons are interactive, and students are always encouraged to ask questions.
I work as a software developer, so I’m used to solving problems and figuring out where things go wrong. I bring that same approach into teaching, especially when helping students understand their mistakes so they don’t repeat them.
I mainly teach high school students from grades 9 to 12, covering maths topics like algebra, functions, and basic calculus, along with computer science and beginner programming. This is a good fit for students who want to improve their grades, prepare for tests, or feel more confident with the subject.
