About Alan
What I emphasize the most when teaching is total understanding by the student. I am familiar with the feeling of being left behind in a lesson and the ensuing fear of speaking up to regain your footing. Thus, I always make sure to take measures that ensure the tutee and I are on the same page. I have experience teaching at various levels, from elementary schoolers all the way to college students, in a variety of environments (private tutoring, working at education centers, competitive coaching). I am confident in our ability to get through whatever obstacle we face with flying colors.

These lessons are for anyone who wants to sharpen their skills for any reason, whether for a class or standardized test. A lesson would typically consist of reviewing content for the first half and working through practice problems in the second half. I generally prefer keeping lessons interactive by working with the tutee instead of just rambling, to ensure that they're following along and didn't get lost without me realizing. As a student myself, I understand the importance of interest and motivation for the tutee, and tend to cater lessons towards their preferences, instead of remaining rigid on my lesson plan (as some others do, from experience).
