About Jayyidah
I am a passionate 1st-class Spanish language graduate with extensive experience in Spanish-English translation, Spanish linguistics and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) via the British Council. I enjoy being able to help and support others in ways that fundamentally benefit their development and progress not only as a student, but also as an individual. I aim to inspire confidence and self-assuredness in one's language and communication skills in everything I do.
The first time I taught and tutored primary and secondary school students was during my undergraduate degree on my year abroad in Spain-Catalonia. This was achieved by conducting collaborative 1:1 and small group sessions across Years 2 to 8 to support students in enhancing their English elocution skills. I also created and incorporated vocabularic, phonic, and grammatical flashcards as a pedagogical tool to facilitate the acquisition of essential vocabulary while promoting peer-led testing among students.
Witnessing students' steady improvement in their confidence in their conversational English skills and English comprehension immediately made me fall in love with the process of teaching! The pride and feeling hugely rewarded was priceless! It was a huge motivation to want to continue teaching in any which way, and was also the inspiration for my pursuit in becoming a Speech and Language Therapist.

I offer flexible 1-2 hour 1:1 revision and tutoring sessions that are adapted to the unique educational needs of each student. I focus on providing practical homework and exam support for secondary school aged children and sixth formers (11-18), with ample opportunity for constructively guided and detailed feedback. This includes homework supervision sessions and GCSE and A-level (AQA) exam support through the revision of studied topics, grammar exercises, speaking exam prep and the translation of Spanish literature texts specified by AQA.
Sessions can be conducted in either English, Spanish or a mixture of both depending on student need/preference.
