About Briar
My passion for Spanish began with an early fascination with the language, literature, and diverse Hispanic cultures. I earned a B.A. in Spanish Linguistics and Hispanic Studies, gaining expertise in communication, grammar, and cultural context. Over 11 years of teaching, I have worked with learners from varied backgrounds, helping them achieve fluency, confidence, and cultural understanding.
I teach with patience, empathy, and adaptability, tailoring lessons to each student’s learning style and goals. My methodology integrates immersive practice, interactive exercises, and cultural exploration, fostering both practical proficiency and expressive communication skills. I aim to help learners develop independence and confidence in using the language authentically.
Outside the classroom, I actively engage with Spanish literature, media, and cultural events to enrich lessons with real-world context. Teaching Spanish is deeply rewarding because I witness students grow linguistically, culturally, and personally, developing fluency, critical understanding, and the confidence to communicate meaningfully in diverse contexts.

Spanish lessons are most effective when learners actively engage with the language in both meaningful and practical contexts. My approach emphasizes grammar, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and conversational practice. I create a welcoming and encouraging environment where students feel confident to practice, make mistakes, and gradually achieve mastery while also gaining an appreciation for the nuances and beauty of Hispanic cultures.
Lesson plans are adapted to the student’s level and goals. Beginners focus on foundational grammar, essential vocabulary, sentence construction, and pronunciation. Intermediate learners refine conversational skills, idiomatic expressions, reading comprehension, and written communication. Advanced learners concentrate on stylistic fluency, professional language usage, cultural nuance, and advanced conversation practice. Each lesson blends guided practice, reflection, and constructive feedback to ensure steady, measurable progress and meaningful engagement.
Spanish lessons also foster confidence, cultural awareness, and critical thinking. Students often find themselves able to communicate effectively in real-life scenarios, express ideas with clarity, and develop a deeper understanding of the Spanish-speaking world.
