About Joy
My interest in Spanish began with a fascination for language structure and cultural expression, which led me to complete a B.A. in Spanish Philology followed by an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. Over 8 years of teaching, I have worked with learners of various ages and goals, guiding them from basic communication to confident fluency through patient, structured, and encouraging instruction. I believe effective language learning requires both clarity and emotional comfort. I focus on creating a relaxed environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and practice speaking freely. Lessons are adapted to individual learning styles, combining technical accuracy with practical usage so students understand not just what to say, but why it works. Outside teaching, I stay connected to Spanish through literature, film, linguistics research, and cultural studies. Teaching Spanish is deeply rewarding because I witness learners gain confidence, independence, and the ability to communicate meaningfully across cultures, which often opens doors academically, professionally, and personally.

Beginners focus on foundational vocabulary, pronunciation, sentence construction, and everyday communication. Advanced students refine fluency, academic or professional writing, advanced listening skills, and nuanced conversation.
