About Jason
I have studied Spanish extensively, starting in high school, continuing for a BA in Spanish at Santa Clara University, and then a master's in Spanish language and grammar at Middlebury College. I live in a Spanish-speaking country, read, write, and speak Spanish daily for work, as well as communicate with many peers and colleagues in Spanish. In many ways, because I grew up speaking English first, then learning Spanish language and grammar second, I have an exceptionally strong command of grammar. My wife is Guatemalan, and we regularly communicate in Spanish face-to-face and in text messages.
My pedagogical approach is modeled on the methods of my best teachers, professors, and mentors, as well as current teaching practices including CLT, TBLT, CLIL, UDL, and new technologies like AI and VR. Preparation, practice, and effort are key to achieving results. I will always make it my priority to ensure that my students are given the necessary tools to excel in their subject matter. Whether it is building a foundation of vocabulary and grammar, or preparing students for Advanced Placement testing, I will ensure that the shared goals of the student and parents are clearly identified, factored into our lesson plans, and considered in all evaluations.
