About Brandon
I am an academic and a teacher. I have one year of teaching experience at a private school here in Tucson. In this position, I teach beginner and intermediate Spanish to High School students using mixed-methods to develop Spanish comprehension and fluency.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Grand Valley State University, where I also studied Spanish.
I have traveled throughout North and Central America and to Spanish-speaking countries including The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. On my last visit, I lived in Baja California Sur, Mexico for 6 months, interpreting Spanish for English-speaking sports fisherman.
In addition to teaching Spanish, I am studying social justice organizers in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands for my Master's thesis for the Sustainable Communities graduate program at NAU.

As a High School student, I loved Spanish classes because my teachers made them fun! Learning a new language can be exciting and revealing, as you discover linguistic connections and new words to express the complexities of life. I know there is not one best way to learn, but a wide range of learning styles. I tailor lessons and course curriculum to each individual student, exploring how we can best learn from one another. Whether you are a beginning student or fluent in Spanish, I will work with you to improve verbal communication, listening comprehension, reading, writing and grammar skills.
