About Mercedes
I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a minor in Psychology. I fell in love with the language 15 years ago, and since then, I’ve developed a strong foundation in language, grammar, literature, and culture. My psychology background has taught me that there’s no one-size-fits-all way to learn. My goal is to create a comfortable space where you can practice without pressure and leave every lesson feeling a little more confident.

Teaching method & techniques:
I combine conversation practice, grammar instruction, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, and real-life examples. I encourage students to speak and make mistakes without fear, because mistakes are an important part of learning.
Typical lesson:
We’ll start with a quick review or warm-up, then focus on the main topic for the day. Depending on your goals, we may practice grammar, vocabulary, conversation, reading, or pronunciation. We’ll finish with a review and clear goals for the next lesson.
What sets me apart:
With 15 years of Spanish experience, a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, and a minor in Psychology, I bring both language knowledge and an understanding of different learning styles. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can build real confidence.
Who the lessons are for:
I work with students from beginner to advanced levels, including middle school and high school students, college students, and adults. Lessons can be tailored to academic coursework, conversation, travel, pronunciation, grammar, or general Spanish improvement.
