About Emma
Hi, I’m a Spanish tutor who is passionate about helping students actually use the language with confidence. I believe learning Spanish should feel natural, practical, and relevant (not just memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules).
I’ve studied abroad in Argentina and have traveled to Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Spain. These experiences have helped me understand how Spanish is actually used in different cultures and real-life situations, which I bring into my lessons.
My teaching is influenced by the work of Stephen Krashen, focusing on comprehensible input and natural language acquisition. I combine this with a conversational approach so students can build real communication skills from the start.
I also come from a background where Spanish is part of my daily life. My family speaks Spanish, and I’ve worked in dual language school settings. This allows me to support students not just academically, but in developing confidence using Spanish in authentic contexts.
I create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing their skills step by step.

My Approach as a Spanish Tutor
Teaching Method and Techniques
I base my teaching on the principles of Stephen Krashen, focusing on comprehensible input and natural language acquisition. I combine this with a conversational approach so students learn Spanish in a way that feels practical and meaningful.
Instead of memorizing isolated grammar rules, students are exposed to clear, understandable Spanish through context, repetition, and interaction. I emphasize:
Real-life vocabulary and phrases
Listening and speaking for communication
Learning through context rather than translation
Gradual grammar support as needed
My goal is for students to understand and use Spanish naturally, not just study it.
What to Expect in a Lesson
Lessons are designed to build confidence and real communication skills:
Warm-up conversation or simple input (based on level)
Introduction of new vocabulary or structures in context
Guided conversation and comprehension practice
Real-life scenarios (travel, daily interactions, etc.)
Review and feedback
Students will spend time actively using Spanish in every session.
