About Melissa
I am a Stanford grad who is passionate about math equity. That is I aim to make math more accessible and fun so that more people can pursue math and other STEM topics. As such, I aim to connect math topics to things students can relate to. I have 4 years of experience teaching math and currently manage a math tutoring center!

I always start by identifying the students' goal - are we preparing a test? Looking to increase weekly quiz scores? Tackling knowledge gaps ahead of next school year? I help students from elementary math through Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and early geometry (no proofs). I also help with SAT prep in all subjects and writing!
Once the goals are clear, I cater my lessons to address the gaps keeping the student from executing at the highest level. I assess gaps through example questions at the start of session that serve as our jumping off point.
Is factoring quadratics what's keeping you from knowing how to graph properly? Is a lack of familiarity with exponent rules making algebraic expressions hard to understand? Perhaps you're not clear on which angles are supplementary vs congruent in geometry.
Together we'll drill down these weaknesses. I'll then gradually present challenging variations on the topic so you're not caught off guard when formats/question types change! I love to provide homework exercises if desired and am always happy to send resources (i.e., articles, Youtube videos) that reinforce concepts from session.
