About Mots
I specialize in helping writers develop clear, structured screenplays from their ideas and personal experiences. I have a Master's degree in Cinema Studies with a practical, step-by-step teaching method. With over 20 years of experience, I've helped numerous writers turn initial ideas into completed screenplays and films. My approach will help you learn to turn an idea into a story through structure, character development, scene building, and shaping a clear narrative from beginning to end. Emphasis is placed on understanding storytelling, three-act structure, maintaining story flow, and building authentic characters and a story world that feels real and convincing. A key part of the method is working with personal experience, memory, and observation to create meaningful stories that resonate long after the credits roll. Writers learn how to shape these elements into film ideas, uncover themes, and write visually for the screen. Each session is customized to the writer's level and needs, with a clear, supportive step-by-step process. Whether starting with a full idea, a fragment, or nothing at all, you will be guided from inception to completion. The goal is not only to finish a script, but to give you a clear method you can reuse to continue writing with confidence and clarity.

This lesson introduces story development and screenwriting in a clear and structured way. Designed for writers who are unsure how to begin or how to develop a story beyond the first idea. We start with a simple question: how does an idea become a screenplay. From there, you will learn how stories are built through character, conflict, dialogue, and structure. You will transform a single concept into viable story seeds, then cultivate them into a complete and coherent narrative. As you write, you will learn how to maintain momentum and clarity, so your story does not lose direction. Character development and structure are approached as interrelated elements, with each decision affecting the emotional and narrative flow of the script. Revision is integrated into the process as a natural step, helping you refine and strengthen your work as it develops. A key part of the lesson is feedback. You will share your writing, receive guidance, and learn how to read and evaluate your own work. This helps you understand how stories improve through perspective and revision. By the end of the lesson, you will have a clearer direction for your screenplay, a practical understanding of how stories are built, and the tools to continue writing with more structure, confidence, and consistency.

I had a feeling that he was going to be the instructor who was going to unleash my imagination, and after several years under his mentorship was the case. He is like an ocean of information and his most important trait is his sincere and objective support. He focuses on the things that make you special and helps to develop them. He helped me to find my cinematic identity and under his supervision, my film went to local and international film festivals.
Elmo never left our side; his commitment was beyond the required. He was always ready to answer any questions and revised our work a million times in order to make it better. Most importantly, he taught us the best methodology for making films by listing the process and research we have to undertake. He taught us that our films must come from within us. He always shifted our minds to think in the correct way of how and why we make films. Every meeting he arranged for us was a huge help in our film making process. He taught us that listening to people’s ideas and working as a team is very important in the field. He gave us all the same amount of time and effort in order to bring out the best of us! He has all my respect and appreciation!
If you’ve been fortunate enough to have had Elmo Aziz as an instructor, then you can say –with outright conviction – that your life has been completely and irrevocably changed for the better. Elmo is one of those few people who have truly captured what it means to be an instructor. There is a certain finesse you’ll come to see in Elmo's work. He has the unique ability to coax you out of whatever shell you’ve holed yourself in, and then he’ll show you the strength in your vulnerabilities and the grace in your shortcomings. He’ll motivate you and wear you down, ignite your filmmaking process, and push your visions farther than you’ve thought possible. And then, when you think you’ve finally arrived, he’ll delicately guide you in the direction you’ve still got room to grow in. If you’re ever fortunate enough to have Elmo as an instructor, then know now, you’ll be growing more as a filmmaker in those few hours with him than you ever will decades on your own.
I've taken many courses with Elmo, and I would credit him for my knowledge and training in cinematography, editing, directing, lighting, and writing. His dedication to his work allowed me and his other students to flourish and release our inner artist. He believes in the abilities of students and motivates them to achieve excellence
Elmo Aziz truly puts effort into every student individually and is aware of what every student is capable of, and works on manifesting those hidden skills. I’m positive that he will be deemed worthy, and his skills and knowledge will certainly help and enlighten those who need it.Elmo provided me with great insight through his lectures, discussions, assignments, and critique. He has a great passion for communicating with students, he constantly provided me with transparent feedback, he was thoughtful, open-minded, relatable, and was always clearly committed to his teaching; he has my sincere and clear support.
