About Benedict
Second year Chemical Physics student at the University of Edinburgh. Highly competent in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, having attained an average mark of 88% in University examinations until this point. Achieved straight As in high school, having taken Maths, Chemistry and Physics up to Advanced Higher Level. Three years of past teaching experience in Physics and Music. I have a good knowledge of SQA style examinations, and am confident giving lessons in Chemistry, Physics and Maths up to Advanced Higher level. My teaching methodology focuses on visual learning, involving frequent use of diagrams and figures. I always aim to promote a deep understanding of concepts, rather than simply memorising equations and facts. This helps students prepare for trickier 'A questions' which feature problem solving and unseen content. I strongly encourage learning through active recall, asking questions to students and actively involving them in discussions, rather than having them passively listening to explanations. My lessons typically begin with a discussion of concepts a student is struggling with, before working through example problems with the student, highlighting tricky concepts present and problem solving techniques required.
