About Kira
I am a Chemistry tutor with over 2 years of experience and an MSc in Radiochemistry. My passion lies in food chemistry and nutritional science, and I love showing students how Chemistry is part of what they eat every day. Lessons go beyond textbooks, connecting chemical principles to food, health, and cooking. I teach macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, along with food additives and their effects. Students also explore metabolic processes that explain how nutrients are absorbed and used in the body. To make learning practical, I include dietary analysis activities and discussions on food product development. We often look at chemical reactions in cooking, like emulsification or browning, to see science in action. My approach is relaxed, supportive, and focused on clarity. I help learners build confidence by breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps. Chemistry is not just about lab experiments—it’s about life. Join me to explore how Chemistry shapes health, nutrition, and the food we enjoy every day.

My teaching methodology in Chemistry is centred on clarity and structure. Organic chemistry can be overwhelming with its many functional groups, reaction pathways, and isomers. I guide students step by step so each concept is fully understood before moving forward. Complex structures are simplified into manageable parts, which helps learners see patterns and connections. Lessons cover organic nomenclature, reaction mechanisms, and stereochemistry in detail. I also focus on isomerism, giving students strategies to recognise and classify different forms easily. Visual representations and flow diagrams make the abstract ideas concrete. I give consistent feedback so students feel supported at every stage of learning. My approach also considers career applications, especially for future environmentalists or marine biologists where Chemistry knowledge is key. By working together, learners build strong foundations that lead to confidence in organic synthesis. With patience and practice, even difficult reactions become logical and clear.
