About Duan
Life has led me on a variety of roads, from Chemistry and Engineering, Accounting and Auditing to pure Education and Training, and this has all led to me gaining a lot of experience. This experience has also led to me being able to explain theory in a variety of ways. If something is unclear or hard to grasp, I can easily rephrase a statement to cater to a student's needs and level of understanding.
I have been a teacher at a private school, and have been tutoring family and friends for at least 8 years. In that time I have managed many success stories for my students, from jumping from a failing grade to at least a B average, all the way to helping students gain distinctions.
Being able to cater to a student's specific needs has always been what I am best at.

I was a teacher at a private school, but have found that one-on-one tutoring allows for more personalized learning. I do not focus on only the subject matter, I focus on a way for the student to learn in their own way. The main focus for me is allowing the student to teach themselves, with me giving guidance. I am fluent in Afrikaans and English, and while my studying focus is grade 10 to 12, I am fully equipped to work with all school-going ages (Grade 1 to Matric).
A typical lesson would include a theoretical explanation of the subject matter, asking probing and leading questions to see where the student is following or not following, which would then be followed up by practice questions that I guide, followed by a quick "test" question to see if more instruction is needed.
