About Shourya
I am a student of Comparative Literature, and I have had a love for both Literature as a whole and English Literature in particular. I have won numerous accolades at Inter-School and even National level creative writing and debate competitions. I have given speeches at TED-Ex and am a recognised speaker in the competitive Model United Nations circuit.

I enjoy teaching children because I love introducing them to the brilliant world of books, and observe how every single child absorbs it differently. I like to discuss the history, the socio-economic structure and the political climate, in relation to the piece of literature I am teaching. I also go through an in depth analysis of the authors before reading through the novel because I believe that in order to really understand a story or a poem or a play, one has to know as much of the background as possible. I encourage students to come up with their own explanation of the texts they come across in their syllabus. This, I believe, doesn't just lead to better academic results, in addition, it also makes the student more invested in the subject and makes studying a rather fun, happy affair as opposed a necessary hassle.
