About Sahana
I would love to be your English tutor because I, for one, understand that English can feel intimidating, whether that be analysing texts, writing non-fiction articles, or contributing to class discussions. In fact, when I tell people I study English Literature, 98% of the time I am met with grimaces, as they see English as a chore to be completed rather than something to be enjoyed. And I want help in changing this opinion. English has always been important to me and is something I have an unwavering passion for, and so, I would be proud to share this enthusiasm with others as an English tutor.

Aimed for children studying for the 11+ examinations and also students in Years 7-11 wanting help for GCSEs. I teach with example texts and interactive writing practices, which have proven to be an effective way of teaching younger children. For older students, I find analysing popular books a good way to develop critical analytical skills needed for the GCSE exams. I tutored a young girl for the 11+, and she passed both stages of the examination to get into a grammar school. I have also done mentoring for a student at my school for GCSE mocks for Psychology, in which she drastically improved in her grades, so I have hands-on experience teaching across age groups. A lesson can range from 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes a week, but this can depend on student availability.
