About Kelly
I am a PhD student in Economics at Georgia Tech, where a significant part of my work involves writing and communicating research to many different audiences. I hold a B.A. in International Studies and a B.S. in Economics, both earned magna cum laude. As a Teaching Assistant, I have led labs and recitations, graded student work, and held many well-attended office hours. I have also completed graduate-level coursework in teaching and learning, and I apply those methods in my work as a peer tutor.

Your goals drive the lesson. I'm passionate about reading, writing, and English literature, but what matters most is that we're working toward the outcomes you need.
I start every student relationship by mapping out where you are now, where you want to be, and what steps are necessary to get there. That roadmap might span one session or many. We'll use it to track progress and make sure every lesson has a clear purpose. I'll also use it to keep feedback goal-oriented, so nothing feels vague or arbitrary.
My lessons are designed for middle and high school students. Some typical goals we might work toward together:
- Writing a 5-paragraph essay, timed or untimed
- SAT/ACT prep
- AP English Language and Composition or AP English Literature and Composition exam prep
- Editing and improving your own writing, including essays and creative work
I have hands-on tutoring experience and a strong background in English literature and writing. My formal tutoring experience spans multiple subjects, and I've worked with students one-on-one on essay writing at the middle and high school levels.
