About Tyra
I obtained a 4-year illustration degree from the acclaimed School Of Visual Arts in New York. Since graduation, I have illustrated 3 published children's books and I am currently working on my next book. I have also completed illustrations for magazines and book covers, and I have a strong understanding of the business side of working as an illustrator.
I am also proficient in animation, so if students have an interest in creating moving illustrations, we can develop that skill in later classes.
I use Procreate, gouache, watercolor, and Adobe Suite to complete my works, but in my classes, students have an opportunity to develop their illustrations in a medium that speaks to them.

I am dedicated to helping you improve in whichever direction of illustration you are most interested in, whether your goals are more aligned with fine arts, advertising, or experimentation.
I am a teacher that will show you more than just how to draw - I will teach you how to navigate the business side of finding jobs with your art, as well as how to prepare applications for art schools, publishing houses, and more!
We will begin by looking at the different avenues illustration can take.
Next, we will work together to create achievable goals.
We will continue by creating and refined a presentable portfolio of your work.
This class is ideal for high school students and older who are serious about a career in illustration.
