About Nicklaus
I am 23 years old and have been in a master's program for the past year. I love to play video games in my free time but also love to go to the gym to give my mind a break. Doing something that makes you happy is critical to mental health which is something I advocate for and will always make sure you are doing okay. I love meeting and engaging with new people creating connections along in my journey.

My teaching method is the Socratic teaching method. I will use this method for my specialties in general chemistry, and organic chemistry for high-school students or undergraduate college students. This ensures critical thinking for the student rather than directly providing the answer. There are various benefits, such as students gaining a better understanding of the concept, material retention being improved, and students being able to inquire more about specific topics. A typical lesson plan starts with the foundation of the chapter to create a"funnel" that leads to the specialized topic. I will revisit previous topics and introduce open-ended questions that lead to the next topic. Emphasizing key points like terms (Le Chatleier's Principle) as well as providing real-world connections to understand the topic better. I will lead into guided practice problems followed by independent practice problems that will eventually be homework as well. Finally concluding the session, I will reinforce any topics discussed and maybe leave an open-ended topic for the next session. With that being said, what makes me different as a tutor is I have hands-on experience in research labs, and teaching labs, and as a student, I have experience being in the class.
