About Nichole
I have a Masters Degree in Education and am currently working towards my National Board Certification. I have been a classroom teacher for over ten years in both the public and private school setting. I absolutely love learning and teaching students in a way that is exciting and engaging. Although there is a place for the classics, I prefer to teach using young adult literature that is relevant and connects with students' real experiences.

My teaching and lessons reflect my role as facilitator, providing students with clear objectives, differentiated instruction around skills and concepts necessary to achieve objectives, and to provide feedback to students about the skills or concepts presented. My lessons are rigorous, but well scaffolded so that they are accessible by a majority of students in grades 7-12.
Lessons begin with clearly stated objectives, a short discussion on background information needed to create context for learning, lesson vocabulary, a learning or reading strategy, the lesson and then an assessment. Most of my assessments are formative in nature in that students typically generate authentic products using the skills or concepts learned in the lesson or series of lessons.
