About Serona
Hi, I’m Serona!
I’m an English teacher with over five years of teaching experience and a TEFL qualification. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach students of different ages, levels, personalities, and goals, both online and in person.
What I love most about teaching is the people.
Every student has a different story, a different reason for learning English, and a different way of learning. I genuinely enjoy getting to know those differences and creating lessons that feel personal rather than treating every student exactly the same.
Outside the classroom, I’m a lifelong learner and a huge bookworm. I love reading, especially fantasy, science fiction, classics, and nonfiction, and I’m currently writing my own fantasy novel. I also play the piano, enjoy films and TV shows, music, cooking and baking, traveling, nature, sports, and art.
I’m also fascinated by languages and cultures. I’m currently learning Spanish and French, and I love discovering how people around the world communicate, live, think, and see things differently.
My curiosity doesn't stop there. I can happily spend hours talking about psychology, science, history, philosophy, literature, astronomy, travel, mythology, or some completely unexpected topic that happens to come up in conversation.
I think that curiosity is a big part of what I bring to my lessons. I’m not interested in simply giving information and moving on. I want to understand what makes each student curious, what motivates them, and what will make English meaningful to them.
As a teacher, I’m organized, adaptable, patient, and genuinely invested in my students. I take their goals seriously while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, expressing your opinions, and being yourself.
Whether you’re learning English for school, work, travel, an exam, everyday life, or simply because you want to become more confident speaking it, I’ll meet you where you are and work with you from there.
And if you’re someone who thinks learning English has to be boring...
I’d love to prove you wrong.

Hi, I’m Serona!
For me, teaching English isn’t about putting a textbook in front of a student and working through it page by page.
It’s about getting you to actually use English.
I want my students to leave a lesson feeling that they talked, learned something useful, discovered something interesting, and became a little more confident than they were when they joined.
Every student is different, so I build my lessons around the person sitting in front of me. Your level, goals, personality, interests, learning style, and the areas you find difficult all influence how I teach you.
How I Teach
Conversation is a major part of my teaching, because you can know hundreds of grammar rules and still freeze when someone asks you a simple question in English.
So we practice actually communicating.
We might discuss a film you love, argue about an interesting question, talk about your travels, practice a workplace situation, explore a strange piece of history, prepare for IELTS, or simply have a conversation about what happened in your week.
While you're speaking, I pay attention to the details: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, sentence structure, fluency, and the little habits that may be holding you back.
Then we work on them together.
I don't expect you to speak perfectly. In fact, I want you to make mistakes.
Mistakes show us what needs attention.
My job isn't to interrupt you every few seconds and turn the conversation into a grammar test. It's to help you communicate, notice patterns, understand your mistakes, and gradually make better choices yourself.
What a Lesson Might Look Like
There isn't one script that every student has to follow.
A typical conversation lesson might begin with a relaxed warm-up, followed by a topic or discussion that gives you plenty of opportunities to speak. As we talk, I'll introduce useful vocabulary, ask questions that push you to express more complex ideas, and make notes on areas we can improve.
We might then pause for some focused practice: correcting sentences, exploring a grammar point, improving pronunciation, learning more natural expressions, or practicing a difficult situation.
Finally, we'll use what we've worked on in conversation again, so the language doesn't stay on the page — you actually get to use it.
For IELTS or exam preparation, the structure changes. We can focus specifically on Speaking, Listening, Reading, or Writing, together with vocabulary, grammar, strategies, timing, and the areas where you need the most work.
Who Are My Lessons For?
I welcome students of all ages and levels.
I especially enjoy working with teenagers and adults, intermediate and advanced learners, students who want to become fluent, shy speakers who want more confidence, and learners preparing for IELTS or other English exams.
Lessons can also be tailored for:
Conversation and fluency
Confidence and natural communication
IELTS and exam preparation
English for work and business
Travel English
Reading and writing
Listening and pronunciation
Grammar and vocabulary
Everyday communication
What Makes My Lessons Different?
I think learning works best when you're genuinely interested in what you're doing.
That's why I don't want every lesson to feel like school.
I bring curiosity, humor, conversation, and real-world topics into my classes, while still keeping them focused and purposeful. I also love learning myself, so I'm comfortable exploring everything from books and films to science, psychology, history, languages, cultures, travel, and the wonderfully random questions that sometimes make the best conversations.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself.
You don't need to impress me. You don't need perfect English. You don't need to be afraid of getting something wrong.
Come as you are, speak as much as you can, and we'll figure out the rest together.
My goal is simple:
Not just to teach you English, but to help you feel like English is something you can actually live in.

If you’re looking for an English teacher who won’t make you feel like you’ve accidentally walked back into school… Serona is your person.
She’s incredibly easy to talk to, which makes speaking English feel much less intimidating. You can make mistakes, forget a word, say something completely wrong, and instead of panicking, you just laugh, fix it, and keep going.
And somehow, you end up learning a lot without the lesson feeling like a lesson.
Serona actually listens to what you’re interested in, so conversations can go anywhere — books, movies, travel, random facts, languages, science, culture, life, or whatever rabbit hole we somehow end up falling into.
She’s also really good at noticing the little things that can make your English sound more natural. You get useful corrections and feedback without feeling like someone is grading every sentence you say.
Basically, she manages to be professional without being painfully formal, knowledgeable without making you feel stupid for not knowing something, and friendly without losing focus on actually helping you improve.
If you want to improve your English, gain confidence, and actually enjoy your lessons, I’d definitely recommend Serona.
I highly recommend Serona as an English teacher. She is knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely dedicated to helping her students improve.
What stands out most about Serona is the way she makes students feel comfortable. She creates a relaxed environment where you can speak without worrying about making mistakes, while still giving you clear and useful feedback when something needs improvement.
She also takes the time to understand each student as an individual. Rather than using exactly the same approach with everyone, she adapts her lessons to different levels, goals, interests, and personalities.
Serona is especially good at making conversation feel natural and engaging. She has a wide range of interests, so lessons can become interesting discussions rather than simply another English exercise.
She is professional, well-organized, and approachable, but also brings genuine enthusiasm and personality to her teaching. If you’re looking for an English teacher who will take your progress seriously while making you feel comfortable along the way, Serona is someone I would confidently recommend.
