The way i go about helping other students is quite effective,I'd like to think. "Get the basics first then build your knowledge from there "
I tend to let students try and figure things out on their own and allow them to fail so that they don't forget when they finally get whatever they were struggling with.
Sometimes i prepare mini tests just yo see how much they've actually grasped
