The lesson I had with Maria was one of the main factors that enabled me to enter my dream MSc course. She was my one-to-one IELTS(writing) teacher.

The MSc course I applied to require over 7.0 in writing and over 7.0 overall, but my IELTS writing results fluctuated between 5.5 and 6.5 over a year and never reached band 7.0. Therefore, I decided to give up studying by myself and asked Maria for a tutorial.

Her teaching was eye opening to me. Based on her long career as an IELTS teacher and a researcher, she knows the latest trend of IELTS and her teaching was well organised and strategic. Since task 2 in writing was especially challenging for me, she taught me most of the pattern of task 2 and I learnt the essential points to cover in my answer sheet of task 2 and learnt which vocabularies gain good points and which do not. I repeated studying what I have learnt from Maria and at the end, task 2 was no longer a terror for me. As a result, I achieved 7.5 in writing which was quite a jump from my previous band -6.5.

Maria is a wonderful teacher with a wealth of experience and expertise of teaching English to students from all over the world. I took private lessons for three months as I needed overall 6.5 of IELTS for my master course. When I talked with her about it, she immediately understood my strengths and weaknesses and made the study plan, clearly showing the way that I should have taken. Therefore, I could make good use of time to achieve my goal.

Maria is also very thoughtful and caring. When I struggled with speaking test, she suggested using skype for intensive lessons so I decided to take skype lessons twice a week for last one month. In fact, there was a marked improvement in speaking score from 5.5 to 7.0 in the test.

I really appreciate to have opportunities to read such beautiful sentences from literatures and films that she cited for me – which expand my world. I always kept them with me and repeated to read them when I had time. Moreover, I tried to read books and watch movies that she recommended to me. I actually fallen love with English rather than merely studied English. As a result, I could gain overall 6.5 of IELTS and start my master course.

Maria was really helpful during my process of improving my English. I can in London with the aim to get my ielts and finally enter to a master in cancer owing the fact that I have a dream to become doctor in hospital and be one of the researchers in oncology.
