About Hermela
Hello! My name is Hermela and I am a UNSW Engineering student specializing in making English tutoring engaging, clear, and highly encouraging for younger generations.
I believe learning English shouldn't feel like a chore. Having achieved an overall 8.5 IELTS score (with a perfect Band 9) and a Top IB score of Level 7 in Literature A (including 33/40 on IB Oral Examinations and B on Extended Essay), I understand exactly what it takes to master reading, writing, and spoken confidence in English.
I specialize in helping primary school and high school students build:
- strong foundational grammar and vocabulary
- creative and essay writing skills
- confident, clear speaking and presentation habits
- love for reading literature
Because I have a background tutoring young children, my lessons are interactive, tailored to your child's personality, and focused on building their academic confidence step by step.

Every lesson is customized to the student's school curriculum or specific areas of weakness. However, I also use pre-selected books for students to annotate to improve comprehension skills and daily journal entries to improve conversational skills. As a tutor, I believe a student learns best when they are given enough time and material to practice and master their task.
In addition, I use visual aids, conversational practice, and targeted exercises during class time to ensure your child stays focused and enjoys the learning process.
● Delivery: Online by Zoom

Ms Hermela is a wonderful English teacher who is patient, kind, and supportive. She explains things clearly and makes learning English an enjoyable experience. I really appreciate her teaching and the time she takes to help me improve my English. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated and helpful teacher.
Working with Ms. Hermela has been an absolute game-changer for my daughter Ariel’s English. She supplements her teaching with bi-weekly homework, helping my child improve even after the lesson ends. Every lesson so far has been engaging, punctual, and well-structured. I recommend her to anyone who is looking for a tutor for their children!
