About Yasiin
I’m an incoming Quantity Surveying student at Heriot-Watt University. I help students improve their SAT Math scores by focusing on how to handle the test properly, especially under time pressure, rather than just going through formulas.
When I first started preparing for the SAT, I had the same issues a lot of students run into. I would rush questions, overthink simple algebra, and lose time even on questions I could actually do. Over time, I realized the problem wasn’t really the math itself, but how I was approaching the exam.
By understanding how the SAT is structured and how questions are designed, I improved my score and reached the 96th percentile on the SAT. The biggest change wasn’t learning harder math, it was learning to stay calm and make better decisions under time pressure.
In lessons, I focus on helping students make that same shift. We go through questions step by step, figure out exactly where mistakes happen, and work on building habits that hold up in the real exam. Students usually start to see improvement not just in accuracy, but in how confidently they manage the test.
The goal is simple: once a student understands how to approach the SAT properly, their score usually starts to move up naturally.

What sets me apart as a tutor:
I focus on helping students improve their SAT Math scores in a practical way, especially when it comes to timing and exam pressure. A lot of students already understand the content but lose marks because they rush, overthink, or aren’t sure how to approach certain questions. I work on fixing those issues step by step.
I also give students extra practice using selected online resources so they can keep working on SAT-style questions outside of lessons. This helps everything we do in sessions actually stick.
My teaching approach:

-I show students how to break questions down so they don’t feel confusing at first glance
-We focus on the main SAT topics that come up again and again
-I give extra practice using online questions so students get used to the test style
-I go over time management so students don’t get stuck too long on hard questions
-We spend time fixing mistakes so they don’t keep happening
It’s mostly about helping students know how to approach questions properly when they see them in the real test.
A typical lesson:
-Quick check of mistakes from the last lesson or homework
-Work on one topic or question type
-Go through examples together
-Timed practice so students get used to the pressure
-Quick recap at the end with what to focus on next
Who my lessons are for:
I work with high school students preparing for the Digital SAT at different levels. Some students need help building confidence with the basics, while others already do well but want to push their score higher.
I adjust the lesson depending on the student, so we always focus on what they actually need, not just following a fixed plan.
