About Thangkhan Shyam
Hi, I am Siam, pronounced Shyam, from Manipur. A Manipuri Christian. Manipur has many English fluent people because most schools in the state are English medium. And Manipur Christians are very influenced by the west, because they are the ones to bring Christianity to Manipur's very backward tribal people back then. It's more than a 100 years now. And Manipur Christians prefer English movies, shows, and music more than the non-Christian Meiteis. And in many churches, hymns, songs, Bible verses, etc. are mostly in English. So, I know English well enough like next to my mother tongue. And Hindi comes third. I'm also very good in Hindi since I went to Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphel for a year. And four years also in JNV Khumbong, Manipur including JNV Rajgir, Bihar as an exchange student. And I want to let people know that even if Manipur's political situation is bad most of the time. Its ordinary people are good and kind at heart.

Like a friend talking to another friend. That's how I intend on teaching. I want to teach to students that didn't complete High School from English medium. I myself went to non-english medium schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphel for a year, and JNV Khumbong, Manipur for four years including one year in JNV Rajgir, Bihar as an exchange student. But I started from my prep and Nursery to fifth standard, 10+2, and graduation in English medium. We, our family grew up watching English channels and Hollywood as me and my siblings were growing up. Watching and learning from The Simpsons to David Attenborough's BBC narrations (my grandpa loves it) while growing up. Never needed English subtitles even back then, when most channels including Star Movies didn't have an English subtitle. I'm also working as a transcriber for New York, OATH.
