About Lauren
I am a training journalist at Cardiff University who loves to write about current geographical and political topics for various community-based newspapers. For me, tutoring is just another way of discussing what I love while helping others at the same time!
Not only do I feel feel confident in my subjects, but I am DBS checked and have completed a leadership course in teaching groups of students. So, rest assured, I have the experience to help your learning.

Geography often refers to many complex processes that can become confusing and overwhelming if not understood properly. That's why I like to focus on using diagrams, videos and other visual mediums as tools to help students comprehend what's going on. I also like to use memory games to engage students with the content. This is what helped me to achieve an A* at GCSE, an A at A-Level, and an Upper Second-Class Honours at the University of Exeter.
As a training journalist I also feel confident to teach English at GCSE and A-Level. Before deciding on a teaching strategy for the student I will have a chat with them regarding what exactly they are struggling with. From there, I am happy to use similar methodologies to simplify English; whether it be the complexity of the novel being read, or literary technique confusion.
A lesson length should be approximately 1 hour, but I am happy to be flexible.
