About Bara
I found my passion for teaching during my post-graduate studies, where I had the opportunity to assist with the undergraduate teaching laboratories and to get involved with the University's Outreach programme, bringing advanced chemistry practicals into schools.
Outside of my professional life, horse riding has been a passion of mine for many years and I am lucky enough to now own two horses of my own. The horses take up most of my free time but during the holidays I love hiking in the Lake District with my husband and our Labrador.

I have experience as a teacher of Chemistry across years 7 - 13 and I really enjoy sharing my passion for the subject. I particularly enjoy engaging with students on a 1-to-1 level at both ends of the ability group; encouraging those students struggling with fundamental concepts and working with them so they understand it in their own way, or by pushing the more capable students to really question the "how" and "why" behind the topics in the syllabus.
Having completed cutting edge research myself, I understand that Science can be a hard subject to comprehend, and if the early concepts aren't understood properly, students can quickly feel out of depth and left behind in the classroom. As such I adapt my teaching approach on an individual basis, to make the understanding accessible to all in their own way. I have a very positive and encouraging teaching approach with which I try to instil self-confidence and independence in my students.
