About Savanna
With over a decade of academic experience and hundreds of tutoring hours, I bring both expertise and genuine care to every session. I’ve worked in person with students aged 5 to 18 for over 20 hours each week, covering a wide range of subjects—from math and science to reading, writing, and critical thinking. As a tutor, my teaching method is centered around adaptability, encouragement, and real-world relevance. A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in to assess the student's current understanding and mood. Then we review previous material to reinforce retention before moving into new content. I incorporate active learning methods like questioning, problem-solving, and summarization to ensure comprehension. We wrap up with a brief reflection and plan for what’s next, including take-home tips or practice. What sets me apart is my interdisciplinary background. With a BA in Anthropology, an MA in Applied Social Research, and doctoral training in Naturopathic Medicine, I bring both analytical skills and a human-centered lens to my teaching. I prioritize building not only academic knowledge but also confidence, resilience, and curiosity.
