About Sean
I am a Mathematical Sciences and Physics Joint Honours graduand from UCC, comfortably finishing with a 1:1 degree. I will be starting a PhD in Physics at UCC in Sept. 2024.
I am extremely passionate about maths and physics and have immensely enjoyed studying through leaving cert. (achieving a H1 in both) and college (finishing with a 1:1 degree, top of my class, 2 x SEFS Quercus College Scholar) as well as partaking in a variety of extra-cirricular activities in secondary school (2 x BTYS competitor, 2 x Irish Mathematical Olympiad Roll of Honour) and college (UCC Superbrain 1st 2021 and 3rd in 2023, Physoc Integration Bee champion 2023).
Teaching is something I especially enjoy, and I have been able to develop my skills having been the tutor for several 1st year maths and physics modules at UCC. Lecturing is a career path I am taking very seriously and so I embrace any opportunity I get to teach and share my passion!

I give lessons to Leaving Certificate students looking to improve their results in maths and physics. I find it useful to explain a topic in a general and comprehensive way and then follow up with some examples to put new information into practice. I understand that new concepts rarely make sense initially and I am very patient with my students. I appreciate the importance of exam technique and I discuss this at length with students. Creative problem solving is very important to me and I try to emphasize finding solutions to problems rather than memorising them.
I wish to show that with enough work maths and physics can be enjoyable and does not have to be so intimidating!
