About Beth
Hello! My name is Beth and I am an Anthropology PhD student at UCL with a First-Class MRes (UCL) and a First-Class master’s degree (University of Edinburgh), both in Anthropology. I was recently awarded a place on the UCL Dean’s List, placing me in the top 5% of students graduating in 2024. I achieved A* A* A* at A Level and have accrued several hours of tutoring experience over the last 5 years, helping students to flourish in their studies. I tutor a broad range of subjects, including Social Anthropology up to degree level. This particular subject is my passion and I have an in-depth knowledge of its methods, theories, concepts, and emerging innovations. I have extensive experience assisting with assignments (researching, writing, editing) and knowledge of the university admissions process, able to assist with interview advice and personal statement writing. Throughout my professional career, I have tutored students from a range of socio-economic backgrounds and with a range of additional learning needs. I take care to tailor each session to the student I am working with, creating an engaging, safe, and fun learning environment. I am a strong believer in the idea that learning is a collaborative process and look forward to the insights we can arrive at together! I am currently offering 1:1 in-person sessions in London and online. If you have any questions, please do feel free to message me. Thank you!

Over the last 10 years, I have accrued several hours of tutoring experience, working with a range of GCSE and A-Level students. I have also completed two master’s degrees, working in tight-knit cohorts, co-ordinating study groups, and providing assistance on assignments. In my studies, I have consistently achieved first-class grades, with my highest exam mark reaching 98% in undergraduate Philosophy. My most recent master’s dissertation in Anthropology was awarded 82% and is in the process of being adapted for publication. In my 1:1 tutoring sessions, I take care to understand the learning style and needs of each student I work with, tailoring each session accordingly to create a safe and engaging learning environment. I have an in-depth understanding of the discipline of Anthropology and the university grading system. This means that I am confident in being guided by your academic interests and am able to offer relevant readings, ideas, and assignment guidance to help your work flourish! My sessions are highly interactive, beginning with an initial stimulus (an overview of a topic or reading, or a close reading of an assignment you are working on) and expanding outwards into discussions and written exercises. We will set ambitious and achievable goals to meet deadlines, excel academically, and nurture a passion for what we are learning about! After each session, I will assign practice questions, or assignment development tasks, which I will offer feedback on before the next session.

I cannot explain how relieved I am I had Beth to help me with my assignment. She is extremely knowledgeable, consistent, patient and I learnt so much from her. I am forever greatful and would highly recommend her to anybody who is looking for a little bit of extra help!!
Beth is an exceptional educator who will always go above and beyond. Her curiosity and outstanding subject knowledge sets her apart from the rest. Knowing her almost 5 years, I can say with the upmost confidence that she is trustworthy, kind and endlessly patient.
Beth tutored my daughter A level English Literature and helped her with her Cambridge interview. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the A level specification, was always really prepared and created tailor made resources for her. Her interview prep was really useful and she helped my daughter gain confidence and develop knowledge beyond the A level spec. It made all the difference in getting her Cambridge offer - thank you Beth!
Beth tutored my son for his GCSE English literature. Beth really helped him to develop a passion for reading, as well significantly improving the quality of his essay writing. I would highly recommend Beth as personal tutor
Beth was an exceptional tutor and we almost wish she was still working with us.
She worked with my daughter, Edith, during a challenging period when she struggled with GCSE anxiety. Beth’s incredible professionalism and personalized approach not only helped Edith overcome her fears but also ignited her passion for literature. Through engaging lessons and thoughtful encouragement, Edith developed a love for reading that has transformed her into an avid reader and this is all thanks to Beth. The skills and confidence she gained under her guidance will benefit her for years to come. We would love to work with her again, and I firmly believe that any student would be fortunate to have her as a tutor. She is truly a gem in the field of education!Beth created a very encouraging environment for both my kids she tutored. Both gained confidence in their work and really enjoyed working with her. I would highly recommend her!
