About Tamar
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and have always loved learning, particularly history and the humanities. I graduated from UCLA with a double major in History and Political Science, with a concentration in Political Theory, and graduated Cum Laude through the Scholars Honors Program. My thesis project was on the history of Vichy France.
I have two years of tutoring experience and have worked with middle school, high school, and college students. During my time at UCLA, I tutored both English and math through the online platform GoPeer. After graduating, I spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright Research Scholar, conducting research on migration, political theory, and contemporary European politics.
I have always enjoyed exploring how historical events, political ideas, and individual experiences intersect. Outside of academics, I love hiking, climbing, traveling, and exploring new places. I am now preparing to begin a master's degree in International Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies through the Erasmus Mundus program.

I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, learning style, and goals. Whether you need help understanding a particular historical period, preparing for an exam, writing an essay, or simply developing stronger analytical skills, I will work with you to create a lesson plan that fits your needs.
My lessons focus on understanding why historical events happened, rather than simply memorizing names and dates. We can work on building historical context, analyzing primary and secondary sources, comparing different perspectives, developing strong arguments, and using evidence effectively.
I particularly enjoy helping students with history essays. I can help with everything from brainstorming and developing a strong thesis to organizing an argument, incorporating evidence, and improving clarity and writing style.
My goal is to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their own ideas. Rather than simply providing answers, I want students to develop the confidence and analytical skills to approach their coursework independently.
