About Matthew
I am flexible, patient, and understanding, I just want to help whoever crosses my path get to a better place of understanding. I strive to give the students I help teach a better opportunity than I gave myself going through school. I did not get assistance that would have sorely helped me in my academic career, and could have benefited from someone simply explaining complicated concepts and material in a different, more digestible way. I hope that every student I cross paths with can walk away not only having more confidence about their current material, but about how to approach and attack any other new challenges in the future.

I try to meet any student where they are at. I had plenty of times throughout my academic career where I was confused and needed help, and I would love to make things easier for those going through the same struggles. I try to approach every lesson differently depending on what level a student is starting at. At a base level though, in any subject, I try to make sure that students walk away with more than memorization, I think it makes a much bigger difference to help students understand how the material they are learning in that moment connects to the rest of the knowledge of that subject as a whole. Then most importantly, at the end of any lesson and throughout, I make sure that the student can explain back to me the concepts and material discussed in their own words. If you can explain what you are trying to learn to someone else, you will always have a better understanding of it at the end.
My strongest subject to teach is science, primarily in the biological area, but I can assist with a broad range of scientific subjects and areas from middle to high school and into college material as well. I can also help teach Mathematics for middle-high school, algebra, geometry. I also love singing, its a secondary passion of mine, and I can help anyone looking for vocal lessons, help with learning to sightread, or help with AP Music Theory. I hope to hear from you soon!
