About Heshman
My biggest goal with tutoring is to reduce the judgement that comes with tutoring. I feel like a lot of students dislike being tutored because their tutors make them feel uncomfortable or inadequate. My philosophy is that if you don't like something you will never excel at it, and my main goal is to connect with every student in their own way so I can find the best way to teach students what they want to know while not forcing anything upon a student. I have successfully accomplished this many many times in my tutoring career and I hope to continue this moving forward!

I always begin by talking to the student and gaining an understanding of who they are and what they are studying for. My next step is to have the student do one or two problems in front of me. I look at their approach to the problem, their work, where they hesitate, where they breeze through easily, and all around analyze and understand the student's thought process. From there, I focus on each individual's weaknesses and also reinforce their strengths, which helps a student learn much faster in comparison to trying to impose a generic teaching method for all students. I am very adept at all math Calculus 1 and below, and can adapt to teaching students of all ages, whether they are in middle school, high school, or college.
