About Maha
I have been a peer tutor at my high school for four years, and throughout this time I have fine-tuned the best ways to walk through and edit students' essays. One of the most important skills I have gained from my experience as an English peer tutor though is being perceptive to an individual's voice. I have learned how to make edits - remove/reword phrases - without losing the student's voice along the way. I also have established the practice of talking through my edits with the student rather than having them do their revisions by themselves.

My lessons will breakdown the process of writing an essay into small, manageable chunks. Meetings will cover the steps to writing an essay such as outlining, drafting, editing, and revising. The student will be able to outline/draft their essay while on call with me, and I will be sure to edit their drafts outside of sessions so that the student always has an active part in what is going on. I will bring my edits back to class so that I can discuss my thought process and we can work through the revisions together.
