About Derek
As a Physics and Economics double major, I am in a network of great thinkers and researchers. I have access to tools that will benefit students and be transparent about the material they are learning. I approach tutoring through learning techniques of spaced repetition and incorporating all learning styles into the session.

The lessons are designed for elementary, middle, and high school level core physics and mathematics and I will help set a foundation for students in these subject areas. First I will identify topics that they are struggling in and then work our way towards understanding broader subject topics while refining analytical and practical problem-solving skills. As a tutor, I also serve as a guide and mentor for prospective students going into physics or mathematics. I will engage with students and get to know them better through their prior learning. I will also give them resources to higher-level materials that will be foundational to dealing with problems in math and science. The students will be introduced with new material and a problem set in which I will provide direct instruction of content through an example and facilitate the student's work. At the end, the student will close the session briefly going over their own understanding of the topic.
