About Brinley
During my junior and senior year of high school, I worked for the school district as a math tutor for my peers. It started as a way to earn some extra cash but became something I looked forward to every week. These students would come to the math lab with no desire to learn the subject, and I was surprised by how much I wanted them to understand. It was truly enjoyable for me to explain why the equations work and help them to remember each one.
My experience as a tutor helped me realize I don’t just love mathematics, I love teaching. It inspired me to go to school and pursue a teaching degree.

I tell people I’ve been tutoring since I was a child, because my first students were my siblings! While they all struggled with understanding mathematics, it has always come so naturally to me. I loved searching for the explanation that would *click* for them and help them finally understand.
In my time working as a math tutor at my high school, I found that that is exactly what teachers have to do— search for the explanation that makes sense to each individual. Everyone has a unique learning style which is why one-on-one tutoring so beneficial. I’m passionate about teaching and find a lot of joy in finding someone’s individual way of understanding.
I have experience tutoring high schoolers as well as young children. The classes I could tutor for range from elementary to AP Calculus and AP Chemistry.
