About Samuel
As mentioned, I have spent years studying biology and am currently diving deep in the fields of neuroscience and brain science. I am originally from Long Island, New York and currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee. Here at Vanderbilt, I have spent the past year as student volunteer for science where I have travelled to local middle and high schools to teach students about science. I also have been beginning research in neuroscience and partake in other clubs such as student government and consulting clubs. Therefore, I believe my balance between my knowledge of biology and my ability to communicate makes me an ideal tutor.

My lessons are structured in a manner where we divide our time evenly between learning, content review, and applicable practice. I spend the first part of the lesson going over the lesson and I then take the time to answer any initial questions the student has. We then review the concepts that I believe are most difficult and most commonly tested on. This review is specifically curated to the student's needs based on experiences from previous lessons and based on the questions being asked. Finally, I take real practice problems from the textbooks and classes and we work through the problems together.
I spent three years in high school studying biology including both AP and IB classes. In this time I scored a perfect score on my AP biology exam and scored a 6/7 on my IB biology exam. At Vanderbilt University I have spent 2 years taking Biology, Neuroscience, and cognitive science classes where I have achieved nearly a 4.0 GPA. I will make sure not only to share my knowledge with my students but also to teach them how to effectively study and prepare for exams so that they can succeed beyond our lesson times.
