About Jemma
I grew up in three different countries; Bahrain, Singapore and Northern Ireland so I have learnt through many different curriculums and exam boards. I've also learnt from a lot of different teachers and I can now confidently say I know what works.
I am 21 years old and I have cracked the code on how to do well at secondary school level. I will help you work out what exactly you need to know and cut out the fluff. A lot of stress can be avoided when you feel confident in knowing what needs done.
If you have gone through 2 years of GCSE's and are kicking yourself for not making revision resources along the way, I'm here to help. If you're at the start of your GCSE's I can help you navigate how to make effective resources as you go that won't keep you in your room studying for hours on end.

I got 8 A*'s and 2 A's at GCSE, 4 A's at AS level and 3 A*'s at A2 level (2021). I would say that my success is 95% related to my revision techniques which is why once I feel a student has a solid base understanding of a topic, I will focus on methods of revision.
Particularly for students I see over the summer months between the first and second year of GCSE learning, I will focus on helping with any catch up required in regard to creating revision resources.
Every student is different so initially the lessons will be 1 hour in length but if longer or shorter sessions suit the student, this can be accommodated.
At school level the most important component in succeeding is understanding what the exam board wants. I will spend time with each student going through specifications. It is key to tailor both the lesson and revision resources to the students exam board.
I will help with creating resources for memorising content. My preferred method for initially learning off material is through the use of flashcards that ask questions - prompting active recall.
Once the student is comfortable, I will advise them to move on to 'blurting', a revision technique in which they write down everything they can remember about a topic with some guiding questions. We can then go through and find the holes in their knowledge which leads to more focused revision on weaker areas.
The final stage of the revision I will recommend is going through past papers and using them efficiently. Understanding why a student gets a question wrong is key. Depending on the reason, I will guide them with what to do to fix what went wrong in that question.
I will ask students to send me topics or questions they are struggling with ahead of time so I can plan a session that will be most helpful for them.
Through the curation of top level revision resources and learning how to use them effectively, you can minimise your work load and therefore minimise stress. I hope I can help my students find the most efficient way to success.
