About Joschka
I'm currently an undergraduate studying Physics at the University of Bristol and love it here. Academia is something that I've always prioritised and now I'm able to dedicate myself to it and have fun at the same time! That being said, being in education myself constantly reminds me how terrible so much teaching is when it really shouldn't be and this is the main motivator for me to teach.
I have 4 A*s at A-Level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science) as well as 9s in all STEM subjects at GCSE. I was offered a place at Imperial to study Physics (although chose to study at Bristol) and I was selected to compete for my school in the UK Maths Challenge every year, alongside numerous other extra-curricular challenges.
Along with private tutoring, I've been a mentor for less abled students and spent time helping schools through an internship programme. All of this together gives me the range of perspectives needed to provide a complete learning experience.
Past students have gone on to attend the Cambridge IGCSE programme and I've been their recommendation when friends need a tutor.

I've been tutoring for the past three years and accumulated 200+ of hours experience tutoring STEM subjects to students aged 11-18, mentoring those from the less abled to those ready to excel with the right push.
I can help students with the theory behind topics, prepare them specifically for exams, or a combination of the above - I ensure that sessions delivered match the priorities of all parties involved, from the student to the parent. I can provide feedback after each lesson, in order to keep track of progress and allow the student to decide where to prioritise their time.
My method of tutoring revolves around the idea of understanding, instead of simply learning. As well as allowing a student to appreciate why they’re doing what they’re doing, understanding an idea enables a student to tie together and learn different, related ideas more easily, and find routes to answers themselves. It also makes the process of learning more satisfying, which naturally has countless benefits. Arguably most importantly, it results in high grades (which is of course a key focus in sessions).
A large part of becoming proficient in an area is the confidence you have in it, and so an underlying aspect of my lessons is to improve a student's own image of themselves in an academic environment.
