About Julia
I hold a master's degree from the University of Cambridge in English Studies. I earned my BA (magna cum laude) in Classics and English from Emory University in 2022.
While in undergrad, I tutored all ages: pre-kindergarten up through high school. For the younger kids, I taught basic phonics, reading comprehension, and elementary grammar. For older kids, I concentrated on test preparation for the ACT/SAT and college essay writing/editing.
I achieved perfect scores on the English and Reading sections of the ACT/SAT when I was a student, and my college essay has been used in high school prep courses as well.

I approach teaching in a holistic, goal-oriented manner. My first session typically includes setting a SMART goal (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound), which guides our lessons from then on. As a teacher, I identify my students' trouble spots and then create lessons tailored to target them. All of my lessons, however, are grounded in compassionate education: there's no such thing as a "dumb" question! Whether you're the parent of a student or a student yourself, you can rest assured that my teaching methodology is just as results oriented as it is warm. My sessions typically run for an hour.
