About Jacob

My sessions vary depending on the specific students needs at the time. This can mean that some sessions are simply spent completing questions to identify gaps in knowledge, whilst other questions are entirely taught material.
The traditional lesson plan that I follow however, relies transparently upon metacognitive theory. I begin the session by working collaboratively with my students to "blurt" the information they know from a topic within a mind-map setting, maximising the connections they have between ideas and simultaneously practicing their active recall.
I will then teach any missed information to remove gaps in knowledge, before moving on to questions to ensure the student is capable of recalling the information within an exam setting.
My in depth knowledge of effective study habits and techniques allows me to equip students with the knowledge and fundamentals they will need in order to learn anything they choose to in future, and to perform exceedingly well in their exams.
