About Heather
As a student myself, I have found myself in numerous situations where I feel lost, confused and helpless. After having successfully completed some of the hardest courses I will ever have to take, I have gained a lot of insight into how to successfully handle situations where I feel like I "can't do it". I want to provide academic assistance and share these skills with other students who may feel that they are in the same position.

Using a patient, and empathetic approach is critical to helping students understand the learning material. When I start with a new student, I want to figure out what aspect of their work is confusing, and how I can build understanding in smaller steps so that they can eventually have a full grasp of any concepts they were originally struggling with. One method that I find works well to implement this is asking leading questions. This promotes students to follow their own thought processes while I provide assistance that guides them to accurate conclusions. Leading questions allows students to have freedom and creativity in their learning process and understanding of the course content while still being aided in finding the answers to their questions.
As a computer science major, I have had extensive experience in technical classes which includes math courses up to calculus 2, and logic classes such as discrete mathematics, linear algebra, and algorithms. If you are struggling with these concepts and are looking for a tutor in these subject areas, I would love to help!
