About Evan
I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy where I served as a Cryptologic Technician by title and signals analyst by trade. Since my time in the service I have earned a degree in applied mathematics, with an area of concentration in physics, and computer science minor from the University of Colorado in Boulder. I first began tutoring as a work study position in school and enjoyed it so much I have continued to work as an educator after graduation. Helping a fellow student achieve their academic goals is very rewarding, plus it's a great way to stay sharp and prepare for grad school too.

My tutoring style is simple, I treat working with everyone as a blank canvas. I believe studying mathematics is a journey and we all start from somewhere. My first goal is always to find out where you are at with your coursework currently, and work hard to empower you to get to where you want to be. What I am really good at is making sure my students have all the right tools in their toolbox to solve hard problems. I am always striving to strike a balance between a formal approach that builds mathematical maturity, with an informal approach that builds intuition. Sometimes we may want to focus on the big picture and talk about the broader meaning, while other times we may want to explore the finer details of a theorem or derivation. Either way, I can promise it will be fun and interesting because this is awesome material which you can use to do really amazing things. The work we do will always be focused on building up your confidence and skill so you can rock your problem sets and exams!
