About Serena
I am an organised, reliable and fun tutor with experience educating children between 6 and 16 years. After leaving school with A-levels in Geography, History & French (A*, A, A), I studied Geography at the University of Exeter, graduating in 2022 with a first. I enjoy working with children, and as a kind and patient person am well-suited to supporting children in these subjects as well as English, from primary level up to GCSE. Depending on the age of the student, my lessons are typically around 1 hour. They usually involve plenty of imaginative and interactive activities, allowing the student to learn whilst also feeling engaged. This may involve a game, a short video clip or activity sheet. The first half of my lessons typically involve me going through any previous homework I may have set the student (if appropriate) ensuring they understand any mistakes. This is usually followed by a topic-specific powerpoint I've created which will incorporate activities which I work through together with the student. To finish I typically set students an exercise they may work on independently, such as a curriculum-based exam question, to ensure they have fully understood the lesson. Since graduating from the University of Exeter with a first class degree in Geography, I have tutored children between the ages of 7 and 16 years, confident supporting pupils up to GCSE level.
