About Elena
I am an 18-year-old studying Law at the University of Kent and subjects such as sociology and psychology have always interested me because I enjoy studying why we are the way we are as humans as well as processes in society and human interaction. I love working with people my age and helping them also gain a passion for these subjects as I know that both are quite content heavy and it can be daunting knowing you have to do a lot of reading and memorising for them. I am, however, certain that I can turn discussions about these topics into an enjoyable, interesting and even fascinating thing to do where afterwards students will gain deeper knowledge about them, where they can go into school the next day surprising people with facts they’ve learnt and methods to memorise theories and concepts.

My techniques of teaching involve discussions about the topic the student is unsure about, worksheets and looking at specific case studies by breaking them down into detail and using games and cue cards, etc. in order to gain a deeper, logical understanding of the topic. I prefer doing interactive sessions where we answer a lot of questions in order for the student to actually understand and remember what they are studying rather than passive reading of the theories and case studies required to know for the subject. A typical session with me would last between 1-2 hours but I can adjust to meet the needs of students. I could also do virtual lessons through video call if the pupil prefers this over in-person sessions and I always answer emails/messages regarding any questions. My lessons are mainly for GCSE students aged 14-17 studying psychology and sociology but I can offer sessions for A level students taking sociology.
