About Jerilyn
My 9th grade Algebra teacher once said, “In math you don’t really learn anything new, you just take basic skills and apply them in new ways.” But that’s never how math is taught. I aim to help students see that math is much simpler than they think, and to know that they CAN master it. I’ve always loved math, and I hope that my students can see that while no, you probably won’t use the quadratic equation in real life, math is everywhere, and it’s beautiful.
I've worked as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant for 1.5 years for Calculus 2 at the University of Arizona. I've helped hundreds of students better understand math and prepare for tests, bolstering their confidence in themselves. I also have experience with special needs and children of all ages, from elementary to high school and beyond.

I adapt my teaching methods to however someone learns best, and I try to follow the students thought process in solving problems. I’m also a firm believer in understanding why things make sense, so I’ll never say, “Just use this formula, even if you don’t understand it”.
My lessons are best suited for elementary to high school aged students, or any student at or below the Calculus 3/Vector Calculus level. I’ve also studied discrete mathematics, including logic, sets, and probability, as well as introductory Linear Algebra.
