I am an Accounting and Finance undergraduate student who has had experience in mentoring Mathematics for students at school as well as doing voluntary tuition for family and friends. I previously used to struggle to grasp concepts in Maths. However, I have practised techniques to help me understand and remember methods, and therefore used these for students I have taught before and they have been very helpful. I am able to tutor students from primary level KS1 to secondary level KS3. During my lessons, there will be a starter activity to revise content from the previous lesson. This will be followed by an explanation of a sub-topic such as ‘adding fractions’ and some example questions which the student will note down. I will then allow the student to complete some questions independently allowing them to ask any questions along the way. Each lesson will be one hour long. I will set a reasonable amount of homework if required and understand that a student may have other commitments during the week and be fair. I am easily approachable and flexible so if the student has any questions while completing homework I will be happy to respond to any emails out of lesson time. I think it is very important to understand where the weaknesses lie for each student and to focus on these in order to allow them to master the content.
