About Silvan
Hi my name is Silvan Wilsch. I am a German national and university-trained teacher with extensive experience and a passion for languages and teaching. In 2018, I completed a five-year teaching degree (BA & MA in Modern Languages & History) at the University of Freiburg. After finishing my degree, I moved to London and have since worked at Chiswick School both as a German Language Assistant and in the pastoral team.
Knowing how valuable it is to be taught by a native speaker, I have been a tutor for many years in both Germany and the UK. Through my university courses and vast experience tutoring students of all ages and backgrounds, I have learned how to tailor my teaching style to each individual student, how to best structure my lessons, and how to explain grammatical issues in a comprehensible way. Being a language student myself (currently learning Brazilian Portuguese), I am also aware of obstacles and problems of acquiring a new language. My greatest asset, however, is my passion for language learning and teaching. In my classes this translates into a cheerful, positive and patient approach, which makes learning more fun and effective!

Perfect! Excellent and humble tutor
My son was really struggling with German subject and was not showing any interest towards this subject. We then finally found Silvan who is a brilliant tutor, very humble and caring for his student. My son has genuinely shown lot of interest after interacting with Silvan and thoroughly enjoys his lessons and guidance. My son treats him more like a friend than a tutor and is making good progress. Thoroughly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a German tutor. Thanks Silvan for your help and it’s a pleasure to write this review.

I definitely endorse training with Silvan to learn German. He is incredibly knowledgeable and his teaching approach works. For example, he assessed my German language knowledge during our first session and then tailored my tutoring around that while also taking into account what was important to me to prioritize. He also has very useful materials which he shares for homework and exercises. I’m learning faster with him than in a traditional classroom. In addition to his knowledge and skills teaching the material, he also makes you feel good while learning. One on one language learning might sound intense, and while it is, Silvan makes it low pressure and fun. Silvan is a great German tutor.
Silvan has been my German tutor for the past few months. I have started from absolute no knowledge of the language, and I am very happy with the progression. He is very knowledgeable and motivated, and always keen to push me to learn more via several examples and/or additional materials.
Silvan has been tutoring my son in gcse German since summer 2020. He is an absolutely excellent tutor . His lessons are thoroughly planned, delivered and followed up . As a complete beginner, I found Silvan to be a really patient and cheerful tutor. He is always eager to help me when I have questions regarding the language, no matter how obvious the answers are. I highly recommend him to anyone that's also trying to acquire the German language.
Silvan has tutored me for a couple of months, helping me to brush up my German skills that had become rusty over time (even though my grandfather taught me some when I was a child). He was very friendly, understanding, funny and definitely highly capable as a teacher. I can highly recommend having him as a tutor!
Silvan is brilliant. Kind and professional, nothing is ever too much trouble from him. He has his students' best interests at heart and is very good at what he does. Would recommend to anyone!
